The British weather is a bitch when it comes to dressing for Awards season which is always in the winter (the proper winter when it’s really cold as opposed to the British ‘summer’ when it’s just mildly cold).
On Tuesday night I stepped out of the house for the 30th Brits awards; a special occasion that would mark 30 years of celebrating pop music. It was worth dressing up for. Like a lot of women I, (inexplicably) have a secret crush on Simon Cowell. Yes, I know it’s hard to explain; he’s average looking, exploits the masses horribly with cheesy programmes full of deluded wannabees with, at best, mediocre talent and wears his trousers unfeasibly high up his waist.

If you think you largely know about John Lennon, think again. Nowhere Boy, the feature debut from artist Sam Taylor-Wood, takes a look at the formative years of the cultural icon revered by millions thirty years after his death at the hands of a disturbed ‘fan.’
Nowhere Boy is not a Lennon biopic. It is a beautifully sensitive portrayal of a family torn apart by the social norms of the day while presenting a wealth of imaginatively presented insights into what early experiences fuelled a musical genius.
