Interview with leading psychic Michele Knight
rehna July 30th, 2008
Josephine was a social pariah in French society in the 1700’s. She was a divorcee. She also had 2 children and apparently no future. Then a gypsy told her she would one day be empress of the world.
A preposterous prediction it seemed.
Until Josephine met an ambitious little man called Napoleon……..
Divination is as old as mankind. All the holy books mention it and in history empires have been run on the advice of soothsayers.
Assetsworld spoke to Michele Knight a very highly regarded psychic. She is described by those who’ve had readings from her as ‘astonishingly accurate.’
She is also a writer and presenter and teaches at various workshops. Her media appearances are many and varied and she is a fascinating, warm, likeable interviewee.
Enjoy!
1. Q -How would you explain what you do to a sceptic and to a believer?
Well, we all have a sixth sense whether we’re sceptics or believers. I see myself as a 21st century psychic. I take a modern approach rather than one seeped in superstition. I keep up with developments in science, quantum physics, whatever.
I also believe that our thoughts create our reality. We recreate patterns in our lives. Some things are fated for us. But others are from our patterns. I can pinpoint something in the past and then relate it to what will happen in the future.
But ultimately my role is to empower the person I’m reading for. I’m not fatalistic. I don’t say I know your fate and I control it. You know, psychic ability has always been around. It’s one of the oldest ‘professions’ around in humankind.
2. Is divination simply about making predictions or is it about highlighting possibilities eg not so much you will have a relationship with X but more it would be good for you to have a relationship with X because it would really work?
I would tell someone X is coming into your life. They are here for a reason, to teach you something. It’s up to you whether you keep them in your life for a year or 5 years or longer.
It all comes back to patterns. People repeat patterns in their lives. I tell them what those patterns are and that they need to break them. Some things in life are fated. Others you have a choice in.
Basically we are the magicians of our own lives. Many people don’t see that. They go to a psychic almost to be disempowered.
With relationships it’s about deeper issues within yourself than just whether X is the right one or whether your ex will come back to you.
3. How do you square concepts of fate and destiny with free will?
We all have freewill. It’s our reactions to what life throws at us that matter. Some things are unavoidable of-course like death. But it’s how you handle what you get that is the key.
I don’t believe that anyone’s life as a whole is fated, just elements of it. We are all connected in an infinite web and its how we choose to move through that web.
4. Can you change your fate?
Some things you can’t change. eg you might be destined to meet someone but it’s up to you how you deal with that relationship. Life fluctuates too depending on what lessons you learn. Life is not concrete matter that is destined to be shaped forever in one way only.
5. Can you mess up your path of destiny with poor decisions?
Yes. but you can get back on the right path. People often give up too easily and repeat bad patterns. They lose faith. To lose faith is absolutely the worst thing.
In my life I’ve had total faith in magic, wonder and the miracle of life. Today could be awful and then tomorrow could bring you untold joy out of the blue. It happens. It’s where your focus is. We control our minds not the other way around. What are your beliefs about life? If you believe it’s awful then you will create that reality and prove your own theory.
If you think all men are bastards, you will meet those who are!
When I was 15 I lived in a squat. A woman there had supreme self confidence. I watched how she lived and copied it. I acted confident even when I didn’t feel it and within 6 months I became that confident person. I look at people I admire and I see how they behave and I use that for myself.
6. How do you do your readings – do you get visions, do you have guides, is it what you pick up from the client?
I don’t really do readings anymore but I’ll do stuff for free if someone needs help. I’m into astrology now and look at life maps which tell me someone’s strengths and weaknesses. But most things are a means to tap into my psychic ability. So I might use the tarot cards to open and close a reading simply because I love the symbolism.
7. If someone is determined to be cynical and closed off to you, how does this affect your reading?
I’m a catalyst. People who are very cynical are often like that because they need to shift a block in their life and find it hard to face some personal truth. I never feel I have to prove myself to anyone.
8. Psychics have a big responsibility to their clients because they deal with major life issues – how do you exercise that responsibility particularly when you see something bad in their reading such as illness, an accident or death?
I don’t allow people to get addicted. My aim is to give the power back to them not take it. People are willing to pay me to control their destiny. I don’t do that. I refuse to do that.
If I see something bad like a serious illness, yes I’d advise them to go for a check up. But hopefully I don’t do it in a way that will scare them.
9. When did you start to see what you can do as a gift?
10. When can it be a burden?
I don’t see it as a gift or a burden. I grew up in a household where magic was believed in, so for me it was always normal. I’ve always had psychic ability. I do find it restricts me though. For example I write, I present but I will always be pigeon holed as a psychic.
11. Have you had to harness your skills or do you always go with the flow?
Psychic ability is a subtle thing, a knowing if you like. Everything is acute. I feel things very intensely. I will know what someone is thinking or feeling at any point and yes, it can be very intense for me and them. It can cause difficulties.
12. Are you able to switch off?
Well I live in the middle of nowhere so that helps. London was very full on. I’m someone who has enormous empathy. I’m very sensitive. If I could I’d help people all the time but I have to draw the line for my own sanity and for myself.
13. Do you spook yourself at times?
My son says I’m like a goldfish. I’ll ring him and say ‘ you won’t believe it but something really surprising happened today.’ I’m always suprised by so much but perhaps I shouldn’t really be.
14. Is it a natural gift or can you learn it?
Everyone has it. It’s like the ability to run, all able bodied people can run but we can’t all be Linford Christie. That’s the difference. For me it’s hereditary. My mother had it. It’s part of me.
15. Who do you go to if you want psychic intervention?
One of my psychics, Nina has a great deal of depth. She goes to a soul level which I like.
16. What are the concerns people come to you most often with?
Love and money. but it’s not necessarily what they really want to know. Often it’s a way to look at deeper issues that they’re then forced to confront.
17. Does it differ between the sexes?
Men come in all cynical and unbelieving but you tell them one accurate thing and they’ll become a believer within minutes! Women may come in apparently more open-minded but they usually need to be told 20 accurate things before they start to believe you.
18. Why do people who seem to have it all, such as celebrities and business tycoons, come to you?
The more powerful you are the more unhappy you can be. It’s the old adage, be careful what you wish for because you might get it and find it doesn’t bring you happiness because basically you’re still you. If you’re unhappy already, fame, money, success won’t make you happy. It could actually make you more unhappy. Then you get into a vicious cycle; you end up just wanting more and more of what you have even if it only makes you more and more unhappy.
You can get money and power and success but at the end of the day you’ve still got to face yourself and deal with yourself. People often think that if only they had what someone like Madonna has they’d be happy but that might not be the answer for them.
You know, the real hard work starts when you get what you want! That’s when your learning curve starts. That’s where the challenge is.
19. What is the meaning of life?
We are all part of a whole. We are here to evolve that whole. We are each a unique soul meant to grow and express ourselves. Death means going to all love and all knowledge but during life we’re separated from that otherwise we wouldn’t know it when we get it.
Life is a holiday. We can choose it to be a rainy, miserable, hellish holiday or a beautiful, sun-filled one.
Ultimately all roads lead to God. All the religions teach that. They all have the same basic message. It’s just that these nuggets of truth have been scattered under different faith names and that’s what causes conflict.
20. How has the new legislation which seeks to regulate and control psychics affected your work?
The legislation is useful. It stops charlatans ripping people off and I do think false advertising is wrong. But interestingly the legislation doesn’t actually name psychics. And ultimately we live in a free country where we are allowed to believe what we want.
21. Your autobiography is entitled ‘Touched by evil’ why not call it ‘Touched by magic’ or something more positive?
I would perhaps have preferred ‘The trouble with angels!’ I don’t care for the word evil. I think it is a dangerous term that demonizes people. By using it I believe you can create it.
22. You suffered abuse as a child, sexual, physical and emotional. How did writing this book as an adult affect you?
I was profoundly affected. It was awful at times. I was able to see the abuse in its entirety whereas when it happened I would find myself being detached from it. I now see that I was simply a child and I’m able to have compassion for myself as a child.
But during the writing I met my wife and finally got to experience pure unconditional love so it all had a good conclusion.
I think I can now let it go. It’s not the chain around my neck it was before. Some of the images, flashbacks have vanished and that means a lot to me.
23. At the time you experienced the abuse and remembering it later in life how did you lift yourself to carry on living?
As a child I almost didn’t see the gravity of it. I was blessed because I told myself I was in control. So I talked to my abusers. In that way I was able to stop physical pain and being hurt physically but of-course it rips your soul and emotionally.
Abuse is a legacy. It taints lives, no doubt about that.
24. Your dead twin Lucy whose spirit guided you so often during childhood once told you ‘there is magic all around you’ is it?
Yes, every minute of the day. I’m like a child with an adult’s wisdom. I feel blessed. I’ve always felt I am loved by the universe.

You’re an amazing woman Michele Knight! What you say makes a whole lot of sense. I need to put some of these things in practice. Like the confidence thing. I need to attract good things. Although it’s hard, I can always try. Thank you.
