SUPERMAN RETURNS -and How!
rehna July 4th, 2006

Oh yeah. The man of steel (in blue tights) is back. Rejoice!
This is no tired old franchise offering. Director Bryan Singer has carefully noted the success of Spiderman and come up with a stunning winner.
Wearing your underpants over tights is not a look many men can carry off but Christopher Reeve’s soul can rest in peace. His red underpants are in good, er, hands.
Brandon Routh is a worthy successor to the Superman cape. In fact, he brings a sex appeal to the superhero that Reeve did not.
The new Superman may be all muscle but his romance with Lois Lane sizzles with real emotion. Lois is played by a suprisingly good Kate Bosworth and she brings a heart to this action movie that is really quite moving. The couple’s personal interaction is always believable and like with Spiderman, the audience is invited to invest in this relationship.
The story goes something like this: Superman has been away for 5 years, noone knows where. Lois Lane, now a Pulitzer prize winner, has given up on him. She has a geeky young son and a fiance who is good and reliable and wears his underpants beneath his clothes.
Superman’s arch enemy Lex Luther (Keven Spacey) has escaped a long prison sentence as Superman didn’t turn up to give evidence against him at court and has now fleeced a dying woman of her wealth. Armed with a collection of bad wigs and an annoying gilrfriend, Luther travels to the destroyed planet Krypton (home of Superman) and obtains valuable information from a hologram of Marlon Brando (yep, old footage from the first film is used). He then steals a crystal from the planet and goes on the rampage on earth.
Fortunately for the world, Superman returns!
Can Superman stop Luther’s dastardly plans? Will Lois forgive Superman for kissing her and then not calling for 5 years? Does the geeky kid have any saving graces? is Superman Returns the biggest blockbuster of the summer so far?
Watch the film to get the anwers to the first 3 questions but the answer to the fourth is big YES!

WOW!!! I have seen SUPERMAN fly, and it is really amazing.
The space shuttle sequence is one of the most exciting things you’ll see on screen this year. Although , i am not sure where the $225 million budget went.
Go see this truly epic summer movie.
If I wanted to see a man in tights I’d go to the ballet..
he comes across a bit wimpy in interviews too.
Not to mention Kate’s biggest claim to fame is dating Orlando Bloom..
My four year old grandson saw this movie and after a hour he asked to leave. He said it was boring. The manager gave my daughter back her money and said he thought it was a bad movie too.
As for Kates acting.. my daughter said she was embarrassed for her…….
ouch!
